Website Center for Countering Digital Hate

CCDH counters the spread of digital hate and misinformation.

CCDH is expanding our Washington D.C. policy team and looking to hire a motivated, purpose-driven Senior US Policy Associate to advance our goals for technology policy reform.

This role has the unique opportunity to support the development of CCDH’s policy positions on the Hill and interface with decision-makers driving the debate on tech reform. The Senior Policy Associate will be dedicated to advancing transformative social media reforms for a healthier society, through inclusive, values-driven policy.

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about our mission and want to be part of a team driving change in social issues globally.

About the Role

The Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) is an international, not-for-profit research and advocacy organization that seeks to disrupt the architecture of online hate and misinformation. CCDH has been at the forefront of unmasking how online platforms and search engines drive radicalization, online harm, and pollute the information ecosystem. We are agile, influential and have a global impact – with offices in London and Washington D.C. and connections globally.

We work across a range of different areas, from protecting children online to countering identity-based hate and researching the harms of generative artificial intelligence. Policymakers, regulators, and elected officials are a key audience for us as we advance solutions. In the US, there is a unique opportunity to shape the debate on online safety and regulation of one of the largest industries in the world.

The Policy and Partnerships team is globally minded and impact-oriented, leading the charge on social media reform in the US and ensuring regulation is fit for purpose in the UK and EU.

Our policy work in the US focuses on developing technology policy recommendations, specifically the reform of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and advocating for our STAR framework, which advances the principles of safety by design, transparency, accountability and responsibility. Our work advances a safer online world, where democracy, science, and truth can thrive, and our human rights and civil liberties are respected.
