Gidget Benitez is a Legislative Assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives. Her portfolio of issues includes healthcare, education, labor, housing, space/NASA, civilian technology, and small businesses/economic development.
Gidget is also the Creator and Producer of “AfroLAWtina,” a podcast dedicated to increasing diversity in the legal profession and addressing deficiencies in knowledge about law school and legal careers.
As a 2018 – 2019 PepsiCo Foundation Law Graduate Fellow for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), Gidget served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Hiram E. Puig-Lugo at the Superior Court for the District of Columbia and as a Law Fellow in the Office of Senator Tammy Duckworth (IL). She also authored a white paper on the use of artificial intelligence and algorithms to remove bias during redistricting, and executed a congressional briefing on the subject.
In law school, Gidget was Editor-in-Chief of the American University Intellectual Property Brief and a Student Attorney in the American University Washington College of Law Civil Advocacy Clinic, where she worked on wage theft, U-visa, and T-visa matters.
